April Drool

If it would have happened on any other date it probably would not have attracted so much attention however...It just so happens that a pretty, young Dutch starlette was caught "cavorting" in a local pub in a small university town just a few days short of April Fool's Day.
First of all it seemed to be the scoop of the decennium, or at least in retrospect (already). A young dutch actress caught on camera french kissing a relatively new colleague en plein public. Not only is she famous and extravagant herself but her "formal" boyfriend is no stranger to the public either. A blond, bourgeois prince with a (Dutch) Ivy League student like demeanor to go along with his quasi Italian dress style. In his former job as the head of a lifestyle magazine he is known for his articulate manner and his provocative style.
One could hardly dream up such an odd couple. The latter being more cerebral and conservative, the former being almost the exact opposite: impertinent and generally vacuous despite her amiable and innocent appearance.

Let alone the fact that lo and behold, all expectations superseded a well known celebrity visits our unblemished, academic community no one could have dreamed this up...or could they? Is this spectacle just another April Fools' joke or an unfortunate reality? Are we running around in circles? Is the dog chasing it's own tail?

Perhaps no one is being fooled here by anyone else and we're all just fooling ourselves. It will be a first of April to remember.
